A recently formed club at the university, ‘UWA Classics Society’ (‘ClasSoc’ for short) is a student-run club at UWA devoted to all things Classics and Ancient History. If you’re studying the ancient world at UWA this group will certainly be of interest.
Just recently ClasSoc hosted a screening of what is (in the author’s opinion) the funniest film ever made – Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian”.
ClasSoc offers weekly Greek and Latin tutoring, which will be helpful for those from other faculties doing these languages as broadening units.
Taken from their website:
ClasSoc was founded in 2015 in order to promote interest and participation in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Western Australia, the only university in Western Australia to offer Classics and Ancient History as a major. Our society provides the chance for Classics and Ancient History students to get to know each other and receive help and information. However, not everyone will be able this subject in their degree, so, we’re open to all interested UWA students and staff and welcome your participation!
We’re here to provide information, host events and promote interest in Classics and Ancient history at UWA. We host a number of events in semester from academic activities like Greek and Latin language tutoring to social activities like toga parties and film nights.
Membership is open to all UWA staff and students. By becoming a member, you get discounted entry to all our events, academic support, the right to vote in council meeting, and much more!
