1:30pm -Merida: A Roman city in Spain
The ancient Roman city of Augusta Emerita. today known as Merida, is one of the best preserved Roman cities in Spain. It was founded in 25 BC by the legate Publius Carisius and acquired an impressive forum, theatre, amphitheatre and hippodrome.
2:30pm – Afternoon Tea.
3:00pm -The Library of Alexandria
The famed library of Alexandria was begun by Ptolemy I who conceived of a centre where all knowledge could be collected. The library was partially burned during the siege of the city by Julius Caesar and the collection replaced by Mark Antony who took scrolls from Pergamum in Anatolia.
