February and March lectures

We have two sets of lectures coming up.

This Saturday, 17th February 2018 1:30 – c. 4:30pm, Emeritus Professor David Kennedy will be presenting two lectures on cites of the Roman Empire, one on  Carnuntum – the ‘capital’ of the province of Pannonia Superior and location of its legions.
The second lecture covers Portus. The changes in the estuary of the Tiber caused abandonment of the first original port city of Ostia and of its successor which developed around the port itself – hence the name. (Murdoch Lecture Theatre, UWA Arts Building)

Following this, on Sunday 4th March 2018 10:30 am – 1pm, Guy de la Bédoyère of Time Team fame, will be presenting two lectures: ‘Flaunting wealth with Art in Pompeii and Herculaneum’, followed by a talk on ‘the coinage of the Julio-Claudian emperors’ (Murdoch Lecture Theatre, UWA Arts Building).
Please see the attached flyers for info, and please contact Norah if you wish to be on our mailing list.
